Quick Touch of Color for Lips & Cheeks
I’m usually not a fan of multi use makeup products, but this Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge For Lips & Cheeks seems to have the formulation down right to really deliver as both a blush and lip tint. It’s become a staple in my handbag and my go to product when I’m running late as it can be easily applied with fingers. It’s been the only blush to find its way into my travel cosmetic bag on my last two trips…which is saying a ton, because I don’t travel light, not even a little bit. At a glance:
- It’s a medium creamy to matte texture
- Coverage builds well
- It feels glossier on lips when applied with a lip brush as opposed to fingers
- Can be applied to cheeks with fingers or a brush and dries to a creamy finish giving you a nice dewy glow without being greasy at all
- For less of a dewy look, just layer a finishing powder for a more matte look
- Extremely versatile
This was a lifesaver on set for me during the last tv show I worked on. When I wanted to grab a few extras z’s, I’d make sure I had this in my bag and could apply it later when I got to set.
I’d recommend getting a color match at a Bobbi Brown counter which you can find at many department stores. The brand make-up artists working at the counters know the products really well and can match you up with the most natural color that will work well on both your lips and cheeks.
As a cheek color, I find I only have to apply it once during the day but it is easily buildable if you decide you want some more color later in the afternoon/evening.
As a lipstick, it doesn’t have a ton of staying power but because it is a neutral color it fades nicely and doesn’t give you that strange lip liner effect. The color will last a few hours if you’re not eating or drinking heavily but won’t last through a full meal. Again, this doesn’t really bother me as it’s not intended to be a long wearing lip color.
With most multi use products in this category, I tend to prefer to use it either on my lips or cheeks. They rarely do both well, so this one surprised me. It’s available in 10 shades. I have the Powder Pink which is a workhorse but have been eyeing up Calypso Coral for summer. It’s definitely worth it to me to have multiples of this product in my collection.
