Get Glowing With 5 Products Or Less

Used alone or together, these makeup products will help you achieve glowing skin in no time.

We all know the key to healthy glowing skin starts with a good diet, exercise, the right amount of sleep and a good skincare routine.  That’s all fine and dandy if you happen to be from Stepford, but for us in the real world this isn’t always enough or even doable.  When I need some extra help, these are my go-to products to perk up my complexion.

Used alone or combined, you can get a subtle to luminous glow:

1. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector
This may be my favorite of the bunch, so much so that I use it every day.  This is a sheer cream with light reflecting pearls that gives skin a nice, natural looking glow without being too glittery.  While it can be used as a highlighter,  I prefer to mix it with my sunscreen as a make-up base for a more subtle effect.  It also mixes beautifully with tinted moisturizer and foundation to brighten the complexion and give more natural coverage.  I am currently using the Moonstone shade for Spring, but prefer the Opal shade for summer since it has more of a bronzing effect.

2. Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder Compact in Highlight 01
This is a compact powder with sheer coverage that is easy to build.    As a highlighter it provides a pretty, matte glow without being too shiny or glittery.  I personally love to use this as an eyeshadow.  It’s a soft champagne with a pretty shimmer that covers up discolorations on the eyelid while helping to brighten up the eyes.

3. YSL Touche Éclat- Radiant Touch
This has been a cult beauty classic for years and for good reason. This illuminating pen has a liquid to cream consistency (much lighter than a liquid concealer) that makes it perfect for illuminating the under eye area. My eye area can get a bit dry at times, and I love how forgiving this formula is because of the light texture.  Although this is not a concealer, I find this gives me enough coverage for a natural look.  Simply layer over concealer when you need extra coverage.  This also is great for highlighting all over the face including the nose, cupid’s bow and under the eyebrows.  It’s easy to blend and almost foolproof.

4. Nars The Multiple in Orgasm
First off, this color is strikingly beautiful.  I love the Gisele like glow this gives my cheekbones with little effort! lt’s a sophisticated coral & peachy pink shimmer that is deserving of its name.  I love applying this straight from the stick to my cheekbones and then blending with my fingertips.  The result is always a beautiful, luminous glow without any oiliness as it dries to a powder finish.  I also like applying this to my lips for a soft hint of color, but am not a fan of this as an eyeshadow.  I find with my fair complexion, applied to the eyes it ends up making me look a little bruised.

Note that this does have some golden glitter particles which I find subtle and pretty.  However, for those who can’t stomach any glitter in your make-up, you may want to steer clear.

5. Hourglass Ambient Powder
These powders are all about mimicking the flattering effects of natural light for a beautiful complexion.  I own this in both Dim Light and Radiant Light and alternate depending on the look I’m going for.  I use Dim Light as an all over finishing powder to diffuse and give my skin a matte, even glow.  I brush on my cheeks, forehead and chin.  If I want a more demure glow, I layer this over the Nars The Multiple in Orgasm to tone down the intensity.  When I want that extra wow factor, I’ll put this on first and then layer on blush.  Radiant Light is a bolder, golden color best for achieving a more sun kissed glow.
